Robbie the Bobby!
Robbie the Bobby is Bury FC's official mascot and is named in honour of Bury born Sir Robert Peel.
Sir Robert Peel, was born in Ramsbottom in 1788 and went on to become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1841 - 1846. It was while he was working within the government as Home Secretary that Peel created the modern police force as we know it today. That's also why policemen are known as 'Bobbies'!
Robby has been through a lot over the years. He once lost his head, which caused quite a few problems for him and while Dave Nugent was at Bury, his mum created an entire new suit for him!
Thankfully, he has his head back now and he's right as rain. Unfortunately, he also can't speak! This was the result of singing, "Richie Barker's Barmy Army" so LOUD that he lost his voice, somewhere in the Cemetary end!!
If you do ever happen to find his voice in the Cemmy End, please notify the nearest steward and we can give it him back! Robbie fancies entering X-Factor next year, he reckon's he's the next Leon Jackson (which isn't saying much!!), so he could do with that voice back!
